Part 2 model answer
A place I'd strongly recommend to anyone is Sajek Valley, which is located in the hill tracts of Rangamati, in the southeastern part of Bangladesh. I went there last December with a group of five friends, and it was one of the best trips I've ever had.
Getting there was an adventure in itself. We first took an overnight bus from Dhaka to Khagrachari, and then travelled up to Sajek in an open-top jeep, which locals call a "chander gari". The road was full of sharp turns and steep slopes, with green hills on both sides, so it was a bit scary but also really exciting.
We stayed there for two nights in a small wooden cottage built on the edge of a hill. The most magical part was waking up early in the morning. From our balcony, we could see a sea of white clouds floating below us, covering the valleys completely. It honestly felt like we were standing above the sky. During the day, we hiked up to Konglak Hill, which is the highest point in the area, and visited some villages of the local indigenous communities. In the evenings, we sat outside, drinking tea and enjoying the cool breeze while watching the sunset.
I'd recommend Sajek to others for several reasons. First of all, the natural beauty is breathtaking, especially for people who've never seen hills and clouds this close. Secondly, it's a great escape from busy city life. And finally, it's quite affordable, so it's perfect for students. My only advice would be to go during winter or the rainy season, and to respect the local culture and keep the place clean.
Part 3 discussion
Why do people like to travel?
People travel to relax, escape their daily routine, and experience something new. Travelling allows them to see beautiful places, try different food, and learn about other cultures. It's also a great way to spend quality time with family and friends. For many people, travelling creates memories that they cherish for the rest of their lives.
How do people usually decide where to travel?
Most people consider their budget first, as well as how much time they have. Recommendations from friends and family play a big role too. Nowadays, social media has a huge influence, because people see attractive photos and videos of places and want to visit them. Online reviews also help people make their final decision.
Is it better to travel alone or with others?
Both have their benefits. Travelling with others is more fun and safer, and you can share costs and memories. On the other hand, travelling alone gives you complete freedom and helps you become more independent and confident. Personally, I prefer travelling with friends, but I think everyone should try a solo trip at least once.
How does tourism affect local communities?
Tourism can bring jobs and income to local people, through hotels, restaurants, transport, and handicraft sales. It can also improve local infrastructure, like roads and electricity. However, too many tourists can damage the environment and disturb local traditions. In places like Sajek, for example, rapid construction has raised concerns about the natural landscape.
Do you think people trust online travel reviews?
Many people do, because reviews give an idea of what to expect from a hotel or destination. However, some reviews are fake or exaggerated, either to promote a business or to damage a competitor. So I think it's wise to read a variety of reviews and look for common patterns, rather than relying on just one or two opinions.
