Part 2 model answer
An important decision that I'm really happy about is when I decided to start my own small online page for English learning materials. This was about a year and a half ago.
At that time, I was spending a lot of time preparing vocabulary lists and practice sheets for myself. A few friends saw my notes and kept asking me to share them. That's when the idea came to me: why not turn this into something bigger and share it with other learners too?
But it wasn't an easy decision. I had no computer, no budget, and no experience in running any kind of business. I was also worried that people might not take it seriously, or that it would take too much time away from my own studies. So, before deciding, I did some research. I looked at similar pages, asked a few friends for honest feedback, and made a simple plan of how much time I could spend on it each week. I also talked to my father, who told me that the worst that could happen was that I'd learn something new. That gave me the confidence to go for it.
Looking back now, I'm really glad I took that step. The page has grown steadily, and I regularly get messages from students saying the materials have helped them. That feeling is incredibly rewarding. On top of that, I've learned so many practical skills, like designing, managing customers, and even building simple websites, all from my phone. And of course, it has improved my own English a lot. So overall, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Part 3 discussion
What important decisions do young people have to make?
Young people have to make several big decisions, like choosing what subject to study, which career to follow, and whether to study abroad. Later on, decisions about marriage and where to live also become important. These choices can shape their entire future, so they often feel a lot of pressure.
Is it better to make decisions quickly or take time?
It depends on the situation. Small, everyday decisions can be made quickly. But important decisions, like career or financial choices, need time and careful thinking. However, taking too long can also be a problem, because sometimes opportunities are lost while you're still thinking.
Why are some people afraid of making decisions?
Mostly because they fear failure or making the wrong choice. Some people also worry about what others will think, especially their family. In cultures like ours, where parents often decide things for children, some young people never really get the chance to practise making their own decisions.
Should people rely on their feelings or logic when making decisions?
I think a combination of both works best. Logic helps us compare the pros and cons objectively, while feelings tell us what we truly want. If someone only uses logic, they might end up unhappy, and if they only follow feelings, they might take unnecessary risks.
Can people learn from bad decisions?
Absolutely. In fact, bad decisions are often the best teachers. They show us what doesn't work and help us become wiser and more careful next time. The important thing is to reflect on the mistake rather than just feeling regretful about it.
